Thinking on making the move to a SWG.
So far I've found that 48oz of 10% Leslie's Chlorine at 30ish CYA is the sweet spot for my pool. Thanks to the suggestions and information on this forum it's been almost two years of beautiful blue water. I still test and adjust when needed.
I run my single speed pump two times a day 3 hours each for a total of 6 hours of run time.

Goals:

1) Understand what I'm doing
2) How much by weight (lbs) 48oz of Leslie's Liquid Chlorine has.
3) What should the output % for the SWG be to get the same results as 48oz of Liquid Chlorine based on a rate of 1.5 lbs/day or 2 lbs/day.

Conclusions:

48oz of Leslie's Liquid Chlorine contains 0.346 lbs of Sodium Hypochlorite
Leslie's Liquid Chlorine contains Sodium Hypochlorite at 10%. 48oz Leslie's Liquid Chlorine contains 4.8oz of Sodium Hypochlorite.
Googling I found Sodium Hypochlorite density to be 1.11 g/cm3 which it the same as 9.263 lbs/gal or 0.072 lbs/oz. Density = Mass/Volume
4.8oz of Sodium Hypo times 0.072 = 0.346

1.5 lbs/day outputs needs to be set at 92% to generate the same effect as 48oz if Leslie's Liquid Chlorine running for 6 hours.
1.5 lbs/day is the same as 0.063 lbs/hour which at 91% is 0.058 lbs/hour times 6 hours 0.345

2.0 lbs/day outputs needs to be set at 70% to generate the same effect as 48oz if Leslie's Liquid Chlorine running for 6 hours.
2.0 lbs/day is the same as 0.083 lbs/hour which at 70% is 0.058 lbs/hour times 6 hours 0.35

Thank you!

You currently add 2.9 ppm FC in your pool each day with the 48oz of 10% bleach.

A typical SWCG rated for a 40K pool can generate 1.4 lbs of chlorine gas per day.

At a 100% setting, you would need to operate the SWCG for 5.4 hours per day. Or at 90% it will generate the 2.9 ppm in your pool in 6 hours.

If you raise your CYA to 70 ppm as we recommend, your daily FC loss will most likely drop.
