Plastic deck ladder problem

Trying to install the ladder that came with my hundred dollar pool, and the legs that attach to the deck slide up and down into the sleeve of the ladder.

Are you suppose to put two screws in those indents in the plastic to stop it from sliding?

I got all the instructions for every thing except the ladder... Of course it was the only thing I need the instructions for!

Kinda looks like there should be a platform right about where those holes are. Can you get a pic from just a bit further back to show more ladder?

Here ya go! I pulled it out of the pool though... Found model #6100 stamped on the side, gonna try and find that.

Yup, it's a Confer model #6100, says to put in 4 #10 x 1-1/4" screws when you get the height adjusted.

I do have to get that paint off the ladder though... Know any tricks without scratching the plastic too bad?
