Phosfree on opening

Our first year of having a pool that happened. One of the pool stores said that our phosphate levels were too high and that no chemicals would be helpful until phosphates we’re reduced/eliminated. Funny thing is our main pool store did not tell us this because they wanted to sell us tons of useless chemicals. So I got some Phosfree on amazon and Shazaam. I use it immediately upon opening the pool every season. Never any issues since. I know a lot of other factors go into balancing but I think this is a great starting point.

If you read around TFP you will see that not much credence is given to the use of Phosfree. In the few instances where we may see it's usefulness for a particular pool we recommend several industrial strength phosphate removers rather than Phosfree which is more water than phosphate remover. More often than not, what is needed is unstabilized chlorine.

We base our pool care system on accurate testing and only adding what the pool needs, when it needs it. To do that we advocate that every pool owner buy and use an accurate test kit.

Throughout TFP, you will read that we suggest certain levels that good science and practical experience has taught us fall within safe ranges.

Further reading of posts here will draw you to the inescapable conclusion that these guidelines work.......in thousands and thousands of pools worldwide. Our goal is to teach pool owners what has been proven to work time and time again and then let them use that information to their benefit.

You may or may not agree with what we teach, nor choose to advocate these methods, that is your choice. But, what we teach is documented in our Pool School We generally recommend new members start with these:

So, welcome to TFP!!
