PH level before the SLAM

The laterals will work since the base is higher and my filter housing is round and not cylindrical. Gets wider towards the middle. But my concern would be the laterals being two inches higher will the sand still have "time/space" to filter properly before returning on to the pool.

Wow Steve, a lesser man would have folded by now! It's been one thing after another for you.

I know nothing hands-on about sand filters but can't you put it back together partially and just run the pump in recirculate mode on the multiport valve?

Then you can go back to the pool store and get the correct assembly.

Good idea...wish you mentioned it yesterday ha-ha. I could've ran it empty of sand and just let the water keep moving. I'm on the way to the pool store with my lateral assembly I need. If they don't have it might need to do that in the mean time.

Someday they'll be "floatin' in the pool drinking my beer" day!!!

Good luck.

They had to part.. ... It's labeled differently in their system due to a different series of filters they use...

The standpipe the MPV sits on is an inch taller but that shouldn't a problem . I'm hoping. I feel better about cutting this one rather than the wrong one

Woohoo!!!!

You'll be back in business in no time. Can't wait to see your pool clear!!

I "think" with the multiport in re-circulate the valve bypass the filter entirely so even if you have the filter partially disassembled you can still run the pump to keep the water mixed up.

With the pump off I was able to see the bottom. First time in awhile.

I got it fixed up had to cut off about and inch off the stand pipe with a dremel since I had the sand in there and was not about to remove it all again.

SLAM commenced early this afternoon. CCs were still less than .5 and FC was at zero. A positive note my TA is down to 140 from 240. Should go lower since I've added more MA a couple hours ago and I'm aerating the return jet.

After this is cleared up going to to get my CYA increased and add borates.

Woohoo!!!!!!

You're so close to doing that cannonball you've been dreaming of all these weeks!!!!

My only opinion/suggestion/thought on borates is to wait a while and get into a good groove with your pool water chemical maintenance first. I have borates in my water but waited until I finished an entire season before I pulled the trigger. Knowing how your water reacts day-to-day prior to borates gives you a good sense of whether or not you really need to do and, if you do add them, you can more easily determine the difference between 0 borates and 50ppm borates. Some people rush into adding borates without first knowing if they really need to do it or not. Then, when little changes after adding them, they get disgruntled and complain about it.

Yes I did. I'm assuming some can get shot back into the pool while reloading? Saw a cloudy mix go back in through return after adding...

Yup, that's ok. Since your sand is "new" again, it will take a while to build up some crud to hold everything in place. The DE will eventually all settle into the filter. Keep up the brushing and vacuuming.

Added chlorine this morning. Was able to see the bottom more clearly. Still hazy though. It's getting there! Glad I got in the pool to vacuum the other night to realize the issue.

My CC has jumped up to 1 now instead of .5.

My wife did say there is still sand I need to vacuum up from the bottom tonight. But sand shouldn't be a culprit right? Been brushing down the sides and bottom frequently. Really not anything to vacuum up other than sand

I've have certainly experienced clear water with a high CC reading. My guess is you've got organic matter in there somewhere that needs to burn off.

Just follow the SLAM guidelines and do your OCLT when you've gotten you CCs down to 0.5ppm or less. The cloudiness is just going to take time.

I'm glad you got your filter fixed. Keeping my fingers crossed for smooth sailing from here on out.
