Super perplexed by our pool this year.
Opened pool 2 weeks ago- green as usual.
Rest- Everything standard- pool company put in 2 gallons chlorine and algecide. We brushed it. Vacuumed for next 2 days. Water tested. CC 3.5 pH 7. Added Baking soda
After 2 days I put in 4 gallons chlorine. Pool still cloudy next day and CC 7. FC under 1. PH 7.4
After 2 days got (glass) sand filter (installed 2 yrs ago) checked. Got pool tested again and was told to add 6lbs shock.
Nothing happened. Still cloudy. CC was 3.7. FCstill under 1
Added algecide and clarifier. Nothing changed
Other numbers:
Ta 103
CH 71
CYA 13
Phosphate 2100 (had high Phosphate last year and year before but pool wud be clear.
Saturation index: -0.5

what should I do? Don't want to buy more chemicals until I know it's gonna fix it ;)
SLAM says to add 2lb baking soda and • 2lb shock.
Any help and suggestions appreciated before I do the shock tonight

Not sure where it says to add these...

Are your TF-100 test reagents still good?

SLAM is a process. You should follow it. Print it out and read it a couple times, keep it with you. Link-->SLAM Process

Dont add any more stuff until you get more reliable test results. Theres no need for baking soda to get rid of algae. You can safely add 5ppm of liquid chlorine until you get the TF-100.

I'm outta liquid Cl
can i add 2lbs dichlor shock tonight? or put it in tomorrow night when I get it?
Should I treat the high phosphates with a remover?
What's the main cause of the cloudiness?
there's no greenness in the pool

Read the SLAM process. Link--->SLAM Process

Two things cause high CC. MPS or ammonia. Low pH, high CC and no CYA...ammonia...or one of the products you had added mps. We can help you figure it out and solve this.

List the exact product brand and product name of everything you added this year.

I wouldn't use Dichlor, if it is ammonia it will just prolong the process. It is not phosphates, ignore that.

The green is algae...you don't have to see it to have it.

There is no question that we can clear this pool. To do that you must have a test kit. Order that now. Link-->Test Kits Compared

Add 3ppm of liquid chlorine a day until the kit arrives.

Proof is in the pudding. Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?
