Perpetual issue water behind liner, sump pump questions...

Vinyl liner pool with water getting behind liner. Constant problem. Have installed about 15K worth of drains around pool which is not working (some are just drain tile, some are huge in diameter). Live in NE Ohio so clay soil. Would a sump pump help remedy this? Is this even possible in my climate? We are not DIY'ers so we are just looking for someone reputable to tell us what is wrong and how we can (hopefully) fix it. 40 X 20 with deep end. Our original pool builder is not being helpful with this issue. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

You would think that after spending that much money already it would be fixed :( I am guessing a pump or two will be what you need. As for finding someone to do the work........man that is going to be hard. Guess none of the people who did the other work are in the running. So sad the PB is no being helpful. My guess is he does not want to get involved due to $$$. Can he at least give you who to talk to???

Amy,

I suspect that the drains you put in are nowhere deep enough to solve the problem.. With deep drain lines you will need a pump or two to pump the water away...

I have a gunite pool but with a similar water problem.. two sides of my pool have French-drains that are 18" wide and 6' deep. The drains slope to the corner where the two drains meet, and where there is a 12" by 8' foot long collection pipe sunk into the ground. At the bottom of the pipe is a sump pump that removes the water... In my mind, the sump pump has to be below the bottom of the pool, and you have to give the water around the pool, an easy way to get to the pump..

Thanks,

Jim R.
