Pentair Whisperflo loud noise

Loud noise from pump started about a week ago. Pump is running fine. Everything seems to be working fine. Noise frequency is always at this level. Any thoughts?

To me, it sounds like a mechanical issue either with the impeller or the motor bearing(s). Are there any recent incidents of the pump being run dry for an extended period or other issues of note?

I would disconnect the motor and remove the wet end from the motor and inspect for damage to the impeller. Based on the sound alone, I would suspect it's more likely an issue with the motor itself. If you see no issues with the impeller or shaft seal, you may need a replacement motor or have the motor rebuilt by a local machine shop.

That sounds really bad. Not sure what’s wrong. Start with the basics, check voltage, current, shaft spin, impeller etc.

Yes, water level was low on one day and pump ran dry for about two hours.
I think it's an issue with the motor. Impeller and shaft seal seems to be okay.
Called a local machine shop and quoted $150 to rebuild.
I am not sure if I should rebuild the motor for $150 or buy the motor from ebay for $230.
