Hello,

I just had a new pool built and am having the following issues:

On auto mode pump restarts every minute. Deleted all schedules but still does restarts. If I run in service mode and run pump manually it works as it should no issues.

IC20 I get comm error and no salt readings. It is working as it should just not communicating back to ET8. Changing settings via ET8 does not carry over to the actual unit. Have to make the changes on the unit itself.

Attaching pictures here but looks ok to me but maybe I am missing something

Welcome to TFP.

What model pump do you have? Some Pentair VS pumps have bad firmware that need an update to operate properly.

If that is a 011056 pump you probably have this problem. Pentair needs to send someone out to update the pump firmware.

Make a warranty claim for your pump problem and your SWG problems and let your builder fix them.

G,

I think the F/W issue was with newer pumps that were recently manufactured. But it would be worth calling Pentair to find out for sure.

In the mean time I suggest that you look at possible RS-485 issues..

Inspect both sides of the RS-485 cable that is controlling your pump to make sure there is no corrosion on either side of the pump connector.

Then I'd set up one schedule.. Pool = 8 am until 8 am and nothing else.

I'd try that and see if the pump continues to start and stop.

If it continues to start and stop, I'd unplug the end of the cable from the bottom connector of the surge card. Then remove the jumper cable that currently is connected to J20 com port. Then connect the pump directly to the J20 com port and nothing else. Basically, you are connecting nothing but the pump to the J20 com port.. ScreenLogic will not work, nor anything else that is normally connected to the RS-485 bus.

You want the power to the EasyTouch shut off any time you are connecting or disconnecting anything to do with the RS-485 cabling.

Tell us what you find.

Thanks,

Jim R.
