Wanting to replace the original sand filter. I doubt the sand has been replaced in the past decade or two possibly.

I thought about a TR60 but then started leaning towards the TR100 (bigger is better, right?). But then I read this in the manual...
"Long piping runs and elbows restrict flow. For best efficiency, use the fewest possible number of fittings, and
large diameter pipe (at least 2” for TR100).

The plumbing from my pool to the pump is 2" but then is 1.5" from the pump to the filter's slide valve. Also, from the filter's slide valve to the in-floor cleaning system is 1.5".

I need some help/input on picking out a proper sand filter. Will the TR60 hinder the in-floor cleaning system?

My signature should have additional info about the pool.

Bigger is better. Only downside is cost.

Can you tell us why? Sand does not wear out, so if the vessel is the issue, good choice to replace.
The filter's overall condition and performance are both equal parts of the issue. Replacement parts are next to impossible to find and it's living on borrowed time. Will it survive another summer? Maybe, but living in Phoenix, I am running out of time where I can perform this task myself before it gets too hot out.

I need help picking out a new filter. Will a TR60 work with my pool and not limit the pressure required for my in-ground cleaning system? Or can I ignore Pentair's recommendation of 2" plumbing and use a TR100?

The TR100 is 30". So it should act the same as your current. Except that a MPV will have a bit more pressure loss.

Thank you. Good info about the MPV. I already purchased a slide valve online since they don't seem to be in stock locally, but over the past day or two, I had been thinking I would return it and go with an MPV. I'll stick with the slide valve instead.

Slide valve has other issues if you need to recirculate, etc.

Next will be your SS pump. Electric hog.
