Polling the audience here. I have a Quad DE filter that is about 4 years old. I’m getting a decent amount of dirt in the bottom of the pool, more than usual. I’m wondering if the filter cartridges could be worn out. I checked them end of last season and they appeared OK.
Things that might help- I live in the NE and run my filter 4-5 months a year, but for an average 12-13 hours per day.
So since I’m not asking a sales guy, what’s a real average life of these cartridges?

My QuadDE was installed in 2013. Still on the original filter elements. So I’m at 11 years old. They are definitely no longer white and the blue rubber ends caps have definitely undergone some hydrolysis breakdown, but they are still functional. I just opened my filter to clean it out a week or so ago. Still going strong.

Thanks for the feedback. I bought a set of filters last year but haven’t replaced them yet.
