Pentair IC40 re calibration?

Afternoon! Finally got the pool up and running and outside of getting some MA in the water, I am having a an issue where the IC40 is reporting about 3750 ppm while the store tested salt is reporting 2800 ppm.. clear disparity. Is there any way to "re-calibrate" the salt water senor on the IC40? or is this calling for a new flow switch? (I read that the sensor is on the flow switch)

Appreciated

I'll regurgitate what others told me, ic40 doesn't really test "salt" as much as tds. As such, so long as it's happy and producing all is right and well in the world.

Dunno where you read that. The Intellichlor has a flow switch and temperature sensor assembly.

The salinity is calculated based on the conductivity of the water and the water temperature.

The conductivity sensor is a separate device in the cell which can be seen if you look in the cell.

The IntelliChlor manual states that measurements will vary between measuring devices (salt test strips, electronic testers, and titration). The salt sensor reading is within +/- 500 ppm accuracy.

Steve,

The temp sensor in the flow switch helps compensate for water temperature when the cell is testing the salt level. If the 'actual' salt level is different than the 'reported' salt level from the cell, by more than 800 to 1000 ppm, most likely your flow switch temp sensor is bad.

Also, I never trust the reported salt level when the water temp is 60 degrees or less.

Very, very old IC40's had a calibration process, the cells that everyone has today do not..

Thanks,

Jim R.
