service system keeps comming up repeatedly and stops heater from working properly

filter gets washed..heater works

couple days later same issue

filter gets washed..heater works…cycle

filter is old..should filter get replaced?
or underlying issue in heater?

no “service heater” light

should heater get replaced?
 
What does the pool water look like? Repeated filter plugging is normally due to algae.
Do you have a full set of pool water chemistry test results?
 
Great. If that is your normal FC, you like to run at minimum.

If you are not getting a Service Heater light, then the reason the heater stops working is low flow. The only reason that occurs is due to a plugging filter. If you are convinced the water is not plugging the filter, buy new cartridges and try it out.

Better is to run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to confirm you do not have algae.
