Pentair filters comparison

They are similar filters, but you would still need a new multiport vavle and redo all the plumbing connections to that. It does not use the same grids. A Pentair 180009 (60) is basically the same as your old filter but with larger grids. It could reuse the same multiport valve, but the grids would still be taller. You'd have to measure the height of the ports on each filter, but it may be possible to just connect it to the multiport vavle where it sits now.

Either way, PVC plumbing is not hard to do and is very cheap.

Hi GMC7036,

The ports on the 180008 FNS Plus 48 Sq. Ft. DE Filter and the 180009 FNS Plus 60 Sq. Ft. DE Filter will be in the same location and you can reuse your old valve. The DE Grids on the inside of the filter will be different from the 48 Sq. Ft. to the 60 Sq. Ft. so you would not be able to use your old grids. If you look at photo of each of the filters you can see that they both you use exact same bottom half of the filter, the only thing that changes is the lid which is taller on the 60 Sq. Ft. filter to accomodate the taller de grids. I hope this helps!
