BLUF: if you use a secondary WiFi router in your home, rather than the WiFi from the UVerse gateway itself, you should connect your ScreenLogic2 system to the secondary router instead of the gateway, to avoid TV/DVR interference problems.

Hi everyone, I registered for the forums just now in order to post my solution to a problem related to this old thread , but was directed to start a new thread, so here I am.

On Friday I had the Pentair ScreenLogic2 Interface And Wireless Connection Kit added to my new Pentair EasyTouch system (Part #522104, "ScreenLogic Bundle"). The two indoor transceiver components were mounted to the garage wall about 2' away from my UVerse gateway box. This produced freezing and pixelation on my TV signal, as viewed on multiple TVs in my home. It also affected recorded programs, which was confusing for awhile. Multiple reboots of the gateway and of the two set-top Uverse boxes did not solve the problem.

After extensive testing with connecting and disconnecting the Ethernet cable between the ScreenLogic2 and the U-Verse gateway, I proved to my satisfaction that the ScreenLogic2 system was interfering with the Gateway. It probably wasn't a direct EMI (electromagnetic interference) problem, because the UVerse system worked fine when the Ethernet cable to the ScreenLogic2 was unplugged.

SOLUTION: the problem was mostly likely caused by an IP address conflict at the Gateway, which apparently couldn't handle two independent WiFi systems at once: the ScreenLogic2, and the Netgear WiFi router (inside the house) that I use to serve WiFi to my various devices (instead of the Gateway's WiFi, which was performing poorly since it's out in the garage). As soon as I connected the ScreenLogic2 to the Netgear WiFi router instead of the Gateway (a daisy-chain architecture instead of hub-and-spoke), the UVerse TV/DVR problems vanished, and the ScreenLogic2 still worked.
