Pentair CYA reagent.

Hi,

I ran CYA Comparison Tests a while back using both Taylor R-0013 & Pentair R161596 (8 Oz) Reagents. I found no differences between the Reagents & results. I usually maintain a CYA target of 50 in my outside in-ground gunite 15k gallon pool. My location : Dallas Tx.

All tests were done indoors with my kitchen florescent light on using the "waist high/indirect light" CYA visual method. I use the Taylor 4088 "sliding black dot" Test Tube for all of my CYA tests. I ran the tests using the "wait 2 minute" & no-wait (no wait time before looking into the tube) methods. I found no differences in test results using both methods.

I also ran tests using the "Blue Devil" CYA Test Kit (B7525 part #) which includes its own "sliding black dot" Test Tube. I used the Blue Devil Reagent & compared the test results with the Pentair & Taylor Reagents. This test is the only test where I saw test result differences when using the Blue Devil Test Tube with Pentair & Taylor Reagents. The Blue Devil Test Tube is scaled differently than the Taylor (& Pentair) Test Tubes.

Pentair/Taylor Tube:

Pentair Reagent:
0 Min: 50 2 Min: 50
Taylor R-0013:
0 Min: 50 2 Min: 50
Blue Devil Reagent:
0 Min: 50 2 Min: 50

Blue Devil Tube:

Blue Devil Reagent:
2 Min: 40
Pentair Reagent:
0 Min: 30 2 Min: 35
Taylor R-0013:
0 Min: 35 2 Min: 30
