I am looking to replace all of my grids on my smbw4048, will the aftermarket ones from Amazon perform just as well as the OEM?

Yes. Most of the time, when a company replaces the grids for a customer they use aftermarket, less expensive, better warranty. Unicel is a very large company making grids and cartridges for virtually every brand, model, size filter.I am looking to replace all of my grids on my smbw4048, will the aftermarket ones from Amazon perform just as well as the OEM?

I always use the ones from Amazon. I've never had any problems with them.Yes. Most of the time, when a company replaces the grids for a customer they use aftermarket, less expensive, better warranty. Do I need to put another 5 lbs of de after backwashing? It's clogged with algae and needs to be backwashed. If 12 psi is your base clean pressure then you need to backwash when it goes 25% higher which is 15 psi.
You really only need to go with 5lbs when you clean all your grids or get new ones. I usually just add about a pound or so. I bought a little orange cup to measure the D.E and I thinks that's a pound.Do I need to put another 5 lbs of de after backwashing?
Did this happen when you first opened your pool for the season?Just replaced my grids and added 5 lbs of de. Initially it was running at 12psi and about 5 hours later it started to run at 20psi. Is this normal? I am in the middle of slamming my pool at the moment if that matters.
Yeah, pretty much.Did this happen when you first opened your pool for the season?
Did you have allot of algae? I would backwash, add a pound of D.E then check your pressure.Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah, it does. It seems to be getting better. I had to clean out all grids again and it’d steady at 9psi right now.Did you have allot of algae? I would backwash, add a pound of D.E then check your pressure.
