Hello all! Many months of Troube Free Poolage with help from the app and other scrounging through the forum archives. I've finally run into a quandry that I'm sure Many Many Pentair filter owners have come across: The air hose / rebreather/ I don't even know what the proper term is that goes from the bottom manifold to the top of the filter housing to purge excess air has been missing from my filter for god knows how long. I've found the part through Leslie's but that bugger is 50 dollars! It doesn't seem like any great trick, but I am looking for some advice on DIY options to replace it.

Since the part is missing, I get a lot of air at the top of my filter housing and DE plumes on cold start of the pump going into the pool! I vacuum up the DE later in the day but it returns the next cold start. I don't want to cover over the port in the manifold for the breather tube thing, as it obviously serves a purpose, and I want to get that working before I move on to leak checking in my pump (its been raining so hard to say atm).

Edit AS I was posting and looking for relevant diagrams, I have found the part on amazon for a somewhat rational price:

Purex (Pentair) Part #75279 (this includes #14 and 15 on the diagram in one piece
Pentair 075279 46-Inch Vent Tube Replacement SM and SMBW Series Pool and Spa Filter
from amazon: Amazon.com: Pentair 075279 46-Inch Vent Tube Replacement SM and SMBW Series Pool and Spa Filter: Garden & Outdoor

Enclosed is an image of the missing parts from my Pentair 2048 from a blow up on Poolzoom
the omitted pieces are circled with red. A little bit cheaper on Poolzoom, but before shipping.

I guess I've solved the problem, but I am still curious if theres a 5.99 home depot type solution. Thanks and I hope this 46" vent tube doodad helps other Pentair owners

14,400 gallons of (no) worries!

I continue to be amazed at what can be bought on Amazon.
