Pebble Tec Pebble Sheen was applied 1 week ago. Acid wash 6 days ago. Pool has been full for 5 days.

I have what I can only describe as staining or patches of discoloration throughout the pool. At first, I thought it was patches of dirt that would come up as I was brushing, but even as the dirt has subsided, the areas remain.

There are areas of distinct blue and then areas that look like a dull gray. The color used was Aqua Blue.

I am brushing with a 50/50 nylon stainless brush twice daily, keeping chemicals balanced per PebbleTecs instructions, and pumps have been running 24/7 since fill. heck, I even bought a small brush vacuum to try to ensure I could keep the floor clear of dirt as much as possible.

I know there is a significant amount of curing that happens in the first 30 days so things can change throughout this time, but I still need to ask the question… Am I totally screwed with this already, despite continued brushing and keeping things balanced? If it’s still like this after a month, I am really not looking forward to the finish installer blaming me for “inadequate care/upkeep” after install.

Those look like typical mottling and color variations that are normal in many pools.

They are not going to brush off or disappear with curing.

Give your pool at least 60 days to cure. Then you can sand some of the staining areas with 80/100 grit wet/dry sandpaper and see what color is under the surface.

We installed our pebbletec finish pool in 2017 (Tahoe Blue) and I recall we had a large discolored (dark splotchy) area. It disappeared within a couple of weeks.

At the time, I sent photos to the installer to let them know, with an email describing how I was caring for the pool (brushing, etc). They thought it needed to cure and in our case it was fine. We have been very happy with the pool surface.
