Haha...I was on that call. The guy in the picture was nowhere to be found until the horse was pulled out of the hole. Next thing you know he's the horse whisperer because he knows these things have turned into huge PR events.
The Horse and Animal Rescue Team was started a couple years ago and everyone at my station had to go through it since we are the technical rescue team and have all the equipment. Odd thing is none of us are horse people so once horse has been rescued we all run away like scared chickens.
I guess I was oblivious prior to the training but I had no idea how often horses need rescuing. That incident was especially odd because it occurred nowhere near horse property and was on a very busy street.
