A small suggestion if I may, the intelliflo pumps are great pumps however they need to be protected from power surges, lightning strikes etc. As you know T&Tec supplies terrible power with frequent power cut offs and power surging. I would suggest investing in a line conditioner/ power surge protector to protect your pool equipment.
Thanks for the tip. Additionally, as far as those VS pumps go, which I do intend to use, I've read of numerous amazon reviews where the electronic board went bad. I already got some of this which I intend to experiment with in terms of increasing its longevity from moisture damage.

Hi Openpool, nice progress on your build. I would love to learn more about your suppliers for the material/component for your house such as windows, tiles etc. I am compiling a list of suppliers for my built in Jamaica.
It's been quite a while but as mentioned the next update would be the pool room. Before it could be a room it needed a floor right?

I should finish the equipment install tomorrow. And then the diy is practically over save for the led lights install since I have lined up to hire a team to do the diamond brite install.
The equipment list (some of which you see in the photos) includes
intelliflo VSF
Ichlor 30
Intelliph
425 sf cartridge
Hayward 50k btu heat pump
Kaplan valves (from amz)
55w LEDs (taking a chance with this China import)... I figure with the eventual failure I had before with the colorlogics, at a quarter the price it it lasts the same length of time I'm good.
Had a bit of a set back in august. There was a pretty wicked earthquake. Darn thing put a hairline crack in an unfilled pool shell with 8" poured RC walls!! So before the diamond brite I will layer in fosroc waterproofing product.

With regards to use of unions I would have used a high temp union if it were locally available for the pump ports but in that case I share the view of some others to simply leave room so that after the first cut, unions can be placed in afterwards
Used some rubber mounts and hilti straps to support the pipes that were offset from the wall
I am yet to attach the bonding wire to the metal components (pentair power box, heat pump and water pump)

well no build thread is complete without the finished pic so here it is! Just got things in balance water-wise. still waiting out some more time to splice in the SWG and bring it online.
The edge ended up reasonably well for a first time, 30gpm keeps it nice and wet with a pleasing sound into the trough. this is a one pump pool -- I had read numerous builds where they had an edge pump but I didn't think I needed to go that route for my needs.

Was a watertight or damp proofing agent added to interior of catch basin shell? Just curious
I took a sort of shotgun approach with the waterproofing, I used a product that was sprayed onto the raw concrete called Radcon 7 and prior to diamondbrite application, I used a cementitious waterproofing product from Mapei....all over the pool shell and the catch basin.
The top 85% of the catch basin is tiled.

I believe I undersized the catch basin overflow (used 3/4" instead of at least 1 1/2") and the vacum port since it screws into the fitting, protrudes about an inch out the wall, looks like a zit. Lessons learnt.
