Owner build questions - Phoenix

I have built my own pools in Texas and am helping a good friend in Phoenix with planning for an owner build and have a few questions for those who have recently went this route.
Is engineering required for permitting? Pool will be 18x36 with attached 7x7 spa raised 12".
Did you use a consultant? If so would you PM me the cost and info?

If you want it permitted you'll need engineering. I just had mine engineered in Vegas last month. The cost was $800 for everything, including site plan. They even came out to the house and measured everything.

If you use BYOP or a similar company, the engineering will be closer to $1500-2000, and chances are they'll use of the of engineering companies you can use on your own.

Yes, typically a wet stamped steel engineering plan is needed to obtain a permit.

Yep, engineering was included in my costs.
