I would like to see what your cell current is. Check the diagnostic information by...
  • Report all readings when you..
    • Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
    • Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
    • Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
  • What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?
Pressing the diagnostic button sequentially will display:
  • Default salt display
  • Pool temp
  • Cell Voltage - When not generating, the voltage is about 30 to 32 volts dc. When generating, the voltage drops about 1 volt per amp of current.
  • Cell current
  • Desired output (% of the knob)
  • Instant salinity
  • Product name
  • Software revision (r.XX)
  • Cell type
High salt causes the board to draw high amps. High amps create heat that damages the board and components. The Aquarite shuts down if the amps are over 8 or 10. to protect the board. But running close to there creates enough heat to cause damage long term.

Normal cell current should be around 6 to 6.5 amps.
 
The AquaRite 900 only comes in two models; one with a T-9 and the other with a T-15.

Maybe they gave you the wrong cell?

The cell setting determines where the amp limit is.

I don't know where the amp limit is for the T-3 setting.
