Hey TFPers,
We are locking in some final details on a bid this week and I need to decide if we put in an outdoor kitchen in the new cabana. And if so do I create a built-in space for a gas grill and our existing big green egg?
Current setup the backdoor from living room goes to a deck off the house with partial-cover pergola, I have a table with the egg on this existing deck. It's close to the house and garage so I can go in and out while grilling or smoking.
The new pool build is going start in the yard about 15 yards out from the current deck stairs. So go down the current deck steps into the yard over a short stone walkway then through a new fenced in area with pool, deck, cabana, fire pit. Do I move the egg into this new area or leave it on the existing deck?
Would y'all be more or less inclined to walk out to the new area to grill/smoke? I have wireless temp sensors to monitor longer cooks and will extend wifi out there.
Summary of options:
- keep egg on existing deck in the table (now aged a bit).
- get something like the Cuna cart. With some effort I could move it from current deck to new cabana easier. If I end up preferring it within the new cabana I wouldn't have a built-in space for it.
- build in a lowered seat for the egg within the new cabana outdoor kitchen. Would get rid of the table or Cuna cart ideas for the egg. Also would be putting a gas grill here.
If anything writing this out helps me, sort of cathartic. I'll become a TFP supporter and start a build thread soonish once I finalize a few more things. Sorry I didn't have a chance to put some pictures together but can later today if that helps. Thanks for the feedback from anyone who has gone through similar first world problems.
