Opening pool - swamp :(

You can add additional CYA using the sock method while you slam the pool. Add enough CYA in the sock to reach 30ppm, and use 30 as your CYA level to calculate FC slam level. For your pool the slam level is 12.

So, started my slam on Sat - I needed to add every 2.5 hours or so on Sat and the frequency has slowed yesterday and today. I brushed and vacuumed all day on Sat.

I can see to the bottom which is a sight to see. I will recheck and hopefully have this thing up and rocking for this upcoming weekend. I will post pictures when I pass the 3 criteria.

Still have work to do but we're on our way!!

Just following up - Still need to get pics but I have nice blue water. I can see the bottom where I need to do some light brushing to break up some minor algae that has settled.

My question - if all the visible algae is gone yet I haven't passed the 3 criteria yet, can the pool be used or are we waiting until the SLAM is officially done before using?

You can safely swim in a pool as long as the FC is above the minimum and at or below SLAM level based on your CYA. You must also be able to see the bottom of the pool in the deep end of the pool.

As long as you meet the above criteria, SWIM!

Woot woot - Then I'm swimming this weekend!! TY all for the help and input. I've learned more about chemistry for the pool in 2-3 weeks than I have in my lifetime. (Obviously I hadn't taken it in HS or college, LOL)

I will hope to stick around to provide my experience and also to eventually donate as this was a very specific process but was manageable and would've been easier had I started here at the beginning of my process. TY again.
