Opening pool by myself, since I am forced to stay at home for 5 more weeks. Where does this go?

I decided to take the pool opening on by myself. I took off the cover, am filling the pool with water, and removed the plugs in the skimmer basket foundations, and the outlet plugs for water outflow. I was able to find assorted plugs inside my Pentair variable speed pump filter basket, I sealed all of the openings that I could see. Here is my issue- I found this black plug with old Teflon tape on it, where does it go?
Thanks and stay safe.
Manny

You've got some nice equipment! Looks like you may have a future project to add a concrete pad but that can wait.

Hmm... Perhaps your pool company that closed threw an extra plug in the basket so you'd call them out and they could do the opening for you (for money, of course!)?

Or it went in his pocket at one of the houses before last year and he emptied his pockets at OP’s house.

That Hayward filter does not use a drain plug like that , its more like a cap . Its much larger (like the size of a soda can top )and it is female threaded not male.
My guess is its the heater drain plug .
Likely its for the heater inlet and outlet header . Also, Its missing the o-ring and should not use teflon tape .
You can see a white label with a small red arrow right underneath the inlet and outlet header on the right side of the heater , that points to where the plug should go .

It goes here ............. see the grey plug .
