online vs local dealer for replacement SWG cell

My unit died - so spectacularly the Pentair rep said he’s "never seen that before” and they are still “investigating the leak at the flow switch” not that I expect a fix since in that same email he advised the IC40 would be okay as a replacement (I was concerned with the GPS).

So now I’m pricing out a IC40 replacement cell and seeing a wide range of price points. As low as $520 on eBay and as high as $1100 with a local dealer with the middle men $640 on Amazon and $870 from Doheny’s .

Key issues I see are Warranty and Model Year / Version.
Warranty> Any issues getting/using a warranty on items you purchased online?
Model Year and Version> Rep said anything 2016 or newer is fine but I’d like to hear from TFP members if there are specific issues related to year and/or version number.
Price> Duh no brainer here! If I can save hundreds of dollars I will!

I‘ve seen so many posts on here about flow switch and wonder if it’s related to the unit’s age, when it was bought, or something else. No doubt the less expensive ones are older models but I’m willing to chance it if there's a high number of members that have had good luck buying online. That said I would hate to have an issue and not get it fixed under warranty!!!

Here are pictures of the leak. I removed the cover so leak is visible.

The Pentair IC SWCG replacement cells get a two year warranty regardless of where you buy it.

However, you have an iChlor unit. I am not sure about the replacement of that.
