Omnilogic Retrofit + Pentair Mastertemp400 Issue

I recently installed a Omnilogic upgrade kit on an old aqualogic system. Everything went good except im having trouble configuring the heater 2022 Pentair Mastertemp 400.

I have one cable with two wires plugged into LV1 heater on the OMNI board (But i think im missing another communication cables going to the sensor on the board?). The previous set up did not have it connected at all the board. The heater is on its own circuit. and i pluged the two cables from LV1 on the OMNI board into the fireman switch as per another posted commented. That seemed let me turn it on and , but it shuts down after a few seconds as im assuming im missing something? See pictures attached.

Two cables? You mean one cable with two wires.

Your wiring looks fine.

How did you setup the heater in the Omni Configuration?

Did you set the MasterTemp into SPA mode and a temperature of 104F on its control panel before you connected the Fireman's switch to the Omni?

Hi. I did not set the MasterTemp into SPA mode and a temperature of 104F on its control panel before i connected the Fireman's switch to the Omni. Is this a big error? How do i do this?
Easiest way is to reconnect the wires at the heater to put it back on local control. Then it will power up and you set its controls. Then reconnect the heater to the OMNI cable.

While you have the heater on local control confirm it runs and you didn't develop a heater problem.

When the Omni called for heat did you press SPA to turn on the heater?

The MasterTemp will turn on using the Firemans switch in the last mode it went off. If it was OFF then you need to turn it ON.

Hello! Thank you..
Just to confirm i have a spa and also a pool that both use the same pump and heater.

So turn off the circuit and reconnect the wires at the heater to put it back on local control..... Then it will power up and you set its controls to SPA and 104. .... Then turn off the circuit and reconnect the heater to the OMNI cable?

While you have the heater on local control confirm it runs and you didn't develop a heater problem. Will do...

When the Omni called for heat did you press SPA to turn on the heater? No. I just used the pool "heater" section in the pool page of the omni app.

Try pressing SPA at the heater while the OMNI is calling for heat.

Hi! When you say "If it was OFF then you need to turn it ON." what do you mean?

I have the mastertemp running now in spa at 104. Do i turn off the heater and turn off the breaker and then reattached the two wires to the firemans switch?

Just turn off the heater breaker and reattach the two wires to the firemans switch.

Turn off the heater breaker with the spa running at 104,

Yup.

Turn it off on the panel and then turn off the circuit breaker?

Nope, you want the heater panel ON so it turns ON when the OmniPL powers it via the firemans switch.

Sorry, im a first time pool owner. frustrating for you.

Feel free to ask why versus what to learn how your stuff operates. Then it may make more sense. If you have an interest in knowing.

Okay! So i did everything and i can start it from the app. it starts up. Says Version 1.00. Then says SPA 79 and SET 104. The heater blinker starts blinking, and then it shuts off. Sometimes it will ignite, other times no. Are my wires inside where the firemans swtich are maybe reversed?

There is no polarity on the firemans switch wires.

Does the blower begin running?

Are there any error messages on the heater panel as it starts and does not run?

When it ignites how long does it run for?

Says Version 1.00. Then says SPA 79 and SET 104.

Says that on the heater display?

What does the Omni display say?

Does the blower begin running? yes the blower begins running.
Are there any error messages on the heater panel as it starts and does not run? no error message just turns off
When it ignites how long does it run for? 5-8 seconds
Says that on the heater display? Yes. When it starts up it says version 1.00 and then spa 79 and set 104 when it starts up
What does the Omni display say? it says heating. no error message.

Could it be the settings in the config menu for the heater?
right now its set to OPMLP.LVR1.
Is that correct based on my set up?

The fireman switch is getting 27 volts (my electrician just checked)

The firemans switch always has 24 volts on it from the heater control circuit.

The LVR closes the circuit which powers the MasterTemp controls for the heater to run.

When the heater turns off you need to measure the continuity using a multimeter at the LVR while the Omni is commanding heat. The LVR should be closed allowing the MasterTemp to be powered.

If the LVR is open then there is a problem in the Omni configuration.

Let's see what @ChrisLPC thinks.

I’m not familiar with that type of heater. The yellow wire coming from the heater remote control contact has an inline fuse. Maybe check to see if that’s good? How long of a run is it on your comm wire from your heater to your Omni and what gauge wire? One weird time I had a long run and used like 18 gauge wire and had a similar issue and just replaced it with a 22 gauge wire and it worked.
