Any issue with infrequently subsidizing my salt system with powdered shock (w/o CYA) to maintain proper chlorine levels, rather than continuing to change the run time?

If it doesn’t have any CYA in it then it’s Cal hypo and will be adding calcium to your pool. If your pool needs calcium then the plan is fine but if it’s already high in calcium it wouldn’t be. You should just use with liquid chlorine if you find you need some.

In Tampa, you may get enough rain to get buy with Cal hypo or dichlor as bperry and mknauss said above.
Careful testing will keep your CYA and/or Calcium in line.......careless testing may result in some trouble. Liquid chlorine would be a better booster. just not as convenient
