I believe I have in this new to me house a 2007-2010 I believe (original equip) Intelliflo 1 or 2 3hp main pump with a sauna (1hp booster) spill over 17.5k main pool. I believe I have seen the demise of the pump coming from seeing metal chunks in filter housing last year and now while battling algae (like others have said..... 'I know I know',lol) anywho on the way to Pool store for a new brush that fell into the green, came back pump off, intellisystem is humming nothing on LCD and remote is inoperable. I manually get the LCD to show up after rebooting and clearing the tripped pump breaker, can see LCD for a short bit (air temp comes alive, sys function listed) til Pump circuit kicks in and she slowly fades away until I reboot again. After thorough cleaning of filters and baskets and salt cell, re-ran system just to hope......not some much, same results. So from afar, I believe main pump's done, filter housing isn't worth fixing the broken or missing pieces, but believe Intellisystem to be good and I just found out about Intellisystem upgrade kits and this sounds promising as well (sorry been Hayward guy for long while), propane heater and boost pump seem to function without issues. So my question is just knowing system age (new SWG last year only) and having put Solar Panels on this house recently, the new technology should be a worthy investment, but I ask you folks for confidence of my assessment (from afar) and your thoughts and different ideas that come from, also the other being way more out of my league and that is while system is down and if I can get rid of water (CA) should I maybe address re-sufacing or other structural (underwater concrete) age related things at this point, don't actually know of any problems (pool runs fine..... or did) or with plumbing, but neighbor had his pool done last year and this pool from what I understand is 3-5 yrs younger then his and I had no idea resurfacing was a thing, well at least until showing signs of disrepair first.......not sure right now, pools green, but was fine last time I saw LOL. TIA

Show us pictures of your pool, equipment pad and IntelliSystem panel you are asking us to help you assess.

Hard to assess things we have not seen.

You have a Pentair EasyTouch control system and a corroded 20 year old Wihisperflo WFE-8 3 HP pump.

You also lack GFCI CBs on your pumps for safety.

You will benefit from the IntelliCenter upgrade to your EasyTouch and replacing your pump with an Intelliflo3 pump.

Thanks for that!, appreciate the info, don't think I'll post a pad pic 'cause you would of loved how they ran the filter out pipe, right over top the Pump lid access panel.lol

After further investigation original pool was kidney previous owner re-did pool into rectangular with two sundecks that need to be raised (at least one). This was plumbed with 2 water features (maybe repurposed from orig design) with manual buried valve that switches between waterfalls or 2 overflow clam buckets or a combo...the point being the manual vs auto and burying it. I believe that the pad equipment goes back to OG pool and my thoughts of saving heater and second pump, probably a waste of time, but can use that pump to clear pool and after that, a fire hydrant pump very well might be in it's in new future....especially since I'm redoing filter plumbing anyways.

I'm kinda thinking that pool surface shouldn't be to hateful (10-15yrs and seen no evidence of plaster issues, smallish sauna will need special attention as usual) that a maybe a PebbleTec surface re-do, and break into the upper tile field feature lines and turning those buckets into colored deck pisser's on the upper deck and leave the waterfalls (They we'll have to be redone to a certain degree) on the secondary channel and put in an auto valve, and feature pump changed to 1hp Intelli. and controls through ungraded panel and re-level auto fill so new sundeck works probably. I have an almost new IC40 that warranty paid for last year, so I will keep that old tech in until it dies, and upgrade everything else....whatdaya think? Unfortunately, I had a landscaper couple yrs ago drop some big palm branches and cracked a few tiles on the wall to the right, so wall will probably be a redo, at least if I want to address it. Last but not least definitely a few bucks into a cool lighting system. Well........Any ideas good, bad, or different .....don't really want to fill it in due to summer wildfires, need/want that extra xtra.
Thanks in Advance!
Ps Sorry side note question for those who have done resurfacing and own pets, how much a problem having an empty pool around during the process (not while they're actually working, type thing)? I have a dog who won't go in the pool, but I do love the safety factor of having water there in case it were to happen.
