I'm cleaning this pool for the first time and I'm not having an easy time w/the equipment. My last pool's skimmer was designed differently.
When I fill the hose and plunge the... thing that you plunge into the skimmer, into the skimmer, there's no suction, which is not terribly surprising, because there's no seal made.
Now here are a couple of the shots of the basket from the skimmer:
* Skimmer pic 0
* Skimmer pic 1
And as you can see, there's not much there for the... thing that you plunge into the skimmer to mate w/. However, if you look into the empty skimmer you can see that it looks like the... thing you plunge into the skimmer has something to mate w/but the basket gets in the way. My understanding of pool cleaning is that you don't remove the basket when doing it--it catches a multitude of sins.

Please let me know if they above links don't work. Google Photos sez that anyone w/the URL should be able to see the pics, but I don't believe everything I read.

Youve got a Venturi type skimmer basket. I have *no* idea how you hook up a manual vac to that? Have you considered a Robot?? Plug'em in and they toodle around the pool and work far better with little effort on your part.

I dunno. Same reason we learn arithmetic before we are allowed to use calculators? It just seemed the right place to start.
Is that what this/these thing(s) is/are? Whatever the heck it/they is/are, I'd appreciate it of someone told me.

Yes! You've got a bot, baby!
....Or at least I *think* you do.? it looks to be missing something? And not being stored on the cart is bad for the brushes (smashes them down due to the weight of the bot on them). Which brand is it?
Have you used it?

Well, looking at an unscaled version, it appears to be a... "Kreepy Krauly Prowler 320"?
It's never moved from that spot. I'm scared to touch it. Any tips would be appreciated. All I know is that none of that power cable is likely supposed to be immersed in water. I don't know what to do w/any controls on the detached part, I don't know what to do w/that electronic gizmo near the handles, I don't know where to connect anything or look for anything... you get the idea.

oh friend, its no problem putting that cord into the water. The power controller takes the electricity down to like 12 amps (I think I have that right) and the cord that goes into the pool is all waterproof. You can't get shocked normally.

Let me find someone who has that model and see if they'll help you look it over......
