I'm just a little confused:

When I opened my pool this season and turned on SWG my automation said my salt was at 2400. I added two 40# bags of salt waited 24 hours and then added one more. System now says 3000. However when testing salt with test kit I get a reading of 4000 after 3 days. Again automation still says 3000! I'm ok with leaving it alone but not sure which reading to trust??? My target was 3200 btw...
 
I'm sure you already have the answer to this since your question is a month old, but having just had a similar situation, trust the (taylor) salt test - back it up with salt test strips or vice versa. As the salt water generator cells deteriorate over time, they lose the ability to accurately indicate salt levels and indicate lower and lower and stop generating, regardless of the actual salt level in the pool.

I typically get 3-4 seasons out of a T-15 cell. Others seems to get more/less. My Taylor test was 4000, the old T-15 was indicating 1600 and would stop generating with a "low salt" light. I replaced the cell and the cell now agrees with the test. My 3-year replacement timer is started again.
 
Amazing what you learn about your pool as time goes on...

My PB was in my neighborhood so he stopped by. We were talking about skimmers as I had a few questions. When I asked about this hole in the back of my skimmer he says oh thats the autofill line I put in for you...say what? He say yea just watch as he takes the water hose and sticks it on this pipe sticking up by the equipment pad. I did not know this! So PB says yea its all plumbed and ready to go just need to hook it up and goes on to say I thought I told you. Well thank you Mr PB as that is awesome.

So I called my irrigation guy and he's coming over in the next 2-3 weeks (busy guy). Irrigation guy says he will tap into a the sprinkler main line and tie it into my control box as a zone that I can control from my phone. What a deal all the way around other than the $150 he's going to charge...
 
That's so great your PB stops by! I know he lives nearby but still, that's very nice.

I don't see how PB's remember all they do. Better late than never on the auto fill.

Watch the weather even with the auto fill. I turned off my auto fill, because I was basically doing it manually anyway. We get so much rain here in Houston, that I try to avoid topping off the pool before days of rain are forecasted. You probably have longer stretches without rain.

Using your phone to operate the auto fill? Score!!!
 
Such a beauty of a pool! Handsome pool owner, too!

My pool is doing very well, although she may need rehab for her MA addiction. Lol!! The rains have put her cravings out of control even with a TA of 60 (her happy place). I think my pool is in her teenage years!!

Hahaha! :laughblue: Good luck there! Has anyone warned you that you probably won't be out of Dante's inferno just because they turn 18? Biggest shock of my life!! My 34 yo son still makes me grayer by the day!

Cliff, any suggestions for pooldv? You've already been through that stage, too. :crazy:
 
Hi Suz, Hi Cliff, Hi Mark, I hate to break in the good news but they always come back (sometimes with more :p). We just moved our 34 y/o daughter out from the house. This was the second time. The first time she was here for 2 years and this past time she was here for almost 3 years. DW and I are slowly reorganizing our house and soooooo glad to get our privacy back again. Cliff please forgive as this is your thread. Moderators I understand if you should edit this post :cheers:

FYI - there was an extensive thread not too long ago that showed that in Texas that is not to code. That once the water enters the 'irrigation' line it is no longer considered potable is not acceptable to be placed in the pool.

Might want to check that. If you ever sold your house it could become an issue.
 
Brent you are always welcome to post on any of my threads. I appreciate any and all comments...

We are raising our two granddaughters ages 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. Had them since the youngest was 6 months old so we don't have any privacy :) My son (not the girls dad) is 24 and lives at home and Im ok with that as he has financial responsibilities to the house and keeps the respect level where it needs to be! Plus he always steps up with his nieces when the wife and I need to get away :) If I could get him to take out the trash my world would be great :) :)
