Northlake, TX New Pool Build

Yes, the girls will be fine. Their hair may turn blonde....NOOOOO, just kidding. It will be fine. Here's a link from one of our experts: See post #2.

Swimming during a SLAM

I always bring my FC up to 9 or so. I don't have to worry as much that way. My swg system works well, but with weather fluctuations and an increase in swimmers, I will 'top off' the FC with some of that crazy liquid stuff called bleach.

Enjoy swimming!

Very good...I looked it up on the chart after I sent the last message. maybe I should look first then ask so it doesn't look like Im being lazy or over paranoid :)

You're doing just fine. Most people can't really learn this stuff just by reading - it takes doing it. You just spent months learning more than you ever thought you would need to learn while your pool was being built. At the same time, you had to make all these decisions about materials - for most, that's even more difficult. Factual stuff with a right and a wrong can be way easier than subjective/opinion decisions - that are permanent. That's exhausting. Then you're practically thrown into the middle of the pool having to learn about pool chemistry, pump run times, PoolMath, what to buy, where to get it, dancing between your PB and those who really know (TFP). That's exhausting!

But you're already starting to answer some of your own questions. You're doing great with the PoolMath app. And you're getting comfortable enough to think about looking up things. I understand, believe me. After my pool was filled, I went a week or so, just doing what I was told - and happy I could manage that. Then I began posting what I thought I needed to do along with my results. Sometimes I was right, sometimes not. Even researching on TFP isn't fool proof. There are updates and new research. That's why, always ask if in doubt!!

Last test results for the night...

FC 6.5
pH 7.8
TA 70
CH 175
CSI -0.09
Temp 88

There was a heavy rain shower that came thru and the results above were well after rain stopped. I added 21oz oz MA and 104oz of bleach after testing (30 min apart). I will retest in the am and let pool run on high for the night. I did run water features for an hour...

Happy with numbers :)

FC 10.5
CC .5
pH 7.5
TA 80
CH 175
CSI -0.32
Temp 86

I will continue to check FC, CC and pH every 5 hours.

Those are some pretty numbers there! After a while you will start to see a pattern. Once you do then you will be able to go down to one or twice a day testing. Once your plaster cures then the testing will be even less.

That's looking very good!

CC: Since you're keeping the FC higher now, you don't have to test the CC each time. Definitely test CC if your FC goes down to 3 or lower. (it shouldn't now that your target is around 9)

TA and CH: test just once a day now

FC and pH: continue testing each test session letting your results drive when to test next. 5-6 hours sounds good for the next time to test today.

If you feel more comfortable testing the CC, TA, and CH more than once a day, that's ok.

CSI is good. :goodjob:

So good to know I did the right think last night with chems...thanks for the great advice Suz, Kim and pooldv!

Well ok then...I will keep the FC up. In fact I'm headed to the store for more bleach...I went through the 5 I bought in no time. Can't wait for SWG!

Had some running around to do so I'm late testing. FC was down to 5 but my CC was 0 and pH is holding steady at 7.5. I added 118oz of bleach and will retest at 9pm.

Good morning...latest results...

FC 8.5
CC .5
pH 7.5
TA 80
CH 175
CYA 40
CSI -0.34
Temp 85

I think its a happy happy pool :)

Ctrav I must tell you thanks! I have been following your testing closely and it has help me make sure I'm doing mine correctly and I also learned a lot from your post and the help you received so I didn't need to ask the questions twice.
It just goes to show that everything is worth asking and posting and you never know who it will help :)
