Noisy IntelliPro Variable Pump

I have a 7 year old IntelliPro (P6E6VS4H-209L) pump that was getting louder at the end of last season, and this spring is even louder. I can't tell if this is bearings (doesn't have a high pitched whine) or something else. It's just loud. Video linked below.

Anyone know what could be making it so loud? This video is at 2,000 rpms.

You have a lot of turbulence in the pump basket for 2,000 rpms.

It could be the bearings or it could be the fan in the rear rubbing. See part #29 the fan shroud. https://www.pentair.com/content/dam...eets/pumps/IntelliPro_Variable_Speed_Pump.pdf

It sounds like the fan blade in the back might be hitting something.. We have seen that before.

That said, the water in your pump looks odd.. At 2K RPM it should be almost clear.. Are you sure your filter is not clogged, or something on the return line shut off.. It looks to me like the water can't get out of the pump.

I was getting some air from the basket seal. Cleaned and lubed and the turbulence is better. Filter is showing 8psi, flow gauge about 22gpm.

I'll try pulling the fan shroud off. I don't feel any vibration there, but not sure I would.

Just for grins, put your filter into the recirculate mode and see what happens to the noise and bubbles.. Recirculate just by-passes the filter.. Just make sure you put it back into the filter mode when done...

You can also try running from just the skimmer or just the main drain and see if you have any difference in operation. I almost always suggest running with the main drain only open about 5 or 10%.. Gives you better skimming and does not hurt anything, as the main drain is almost useless any way.

Thanks Jim. I tried pulling off the fan shroud and running the pump. No change in noise (video link below). Also tried recirculate. Psi dropped by 1, but no noticable change otherwise. The pump is 7 years old, and the prior owners ran it at 2800rpm 24x7 for 4 seasons straight.

Went outside to find the pump awfully quiet this afternoon. It stopped due to overcurrent error. Tried to restart and the shaft won't spin. Pulled it apart and can barely rotate the shaft. Lots of corrosion around the front of the shaft. Guess I'm looking for a new motor or pump.
