Hi All,

I have been in my home for 2 years now and had a pool man handling my pool for the first 1.5 years. I took over in this past winter when the pool wasn't used. I shocked weekly and floated 2 pucks of chlorinated tablets just as the pool man had. ~2 months ago (March) I deep cleaned my DE filter and re applied DE.
Last month after getting involved here with TFP I switched to liquid chlorine so I ditched the pucks and no more powder shock.
I received my TF-100 kit and my Cl is reading 5 and Ph 8.2 my CYA is 70. All 3 numbers still reading the same even after 10 days of no chlorine.
Little algae present only on the crease of the steps but it brushes off with ease.
If I understand correctly, dropping Ph with Muriatic Acid should be the first step?
Any advice is appreciated...

Welcome to TFP! If you see algae, then yes, you will want to lower the pH with acid and go right into the SLAM Process. Now if you have any doubt at to whether or not what you see if actually algae, then you can perform the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. It is odd that you don't seem to be losing any FC but see algae.

For now, definitely lower the pH to about 7.2. Might also be a good idea to post a full set of water test results so we have the whole picture. Also confirm what math you are using to derive the FC result. Just to be safe.
