In ya I see. I sat my walls on my concrete pour so my pavers will butt to my walls but maybe u can add a low growing spreading kinda perennial that will climb up the wall a little? I don’t know just throwing it out there. Rock would make it less obvious though like mentioned. Something colored the same as the wall.
There are many low growing lovely ground covers which will accent that wall nicely. A 3" high ground cover perhaps, or dwarf mondo grass laid close to each other in a line.

I think your wall to deck transition will look perfect with 1-3" river jacks. You don't want something too small like pea gravel, in my opinion, because when you use a blower to clean out the area of leaves, grass, etc., the river jacks won't move much if at all. I wouldn't plant anything there as its just something else to maintain when the stone will look great.
