Newbie getting bizarre testing results

Log your pool temp when you record TA restest so we get CSI CALCULATED.
I've just logged my tests in Pool Math, including the water temp and calculated CSI. The SWG has been off for a week, so I'm a bit surprised that CL is still up at 21 down just 2 ppm over a week. Any advice other than to be patient as the sun takes care of the CL?

I would raise your CH to 200 to protect the plaster. Can you test the pH, TA and CH of your fill water? Do you have an autofill? Any idea how often/much you add water?

I don't have an auto fill. During the summer, the rainy season in Tampa, I rarely add water. Much more common is having to let water out due to rainfall. I can certainly test the fill water. The winter tends to be dry, sometimes very dry, and I have to add water as much as once a week.

Reactions: PoolStored
I have not yet fired my pool service and they have now added 2.5 gal of liquid chlorine and 1 lb of stabilizer. This even though my FC level was high and CYA at the TFP recommended level. Idiots.

After that I tested FC at 30. I took a sample to Leslie's and they reported 17. I know my test should be more accurate, but as a newbie I am alarmed at the size of the discrepancy. Advice?

Ignore leslies. The chart below assumes a calibrated machine and a competent operator.

You pool service is doing what we call "Dump and Pray" they only come once a week, they dump a bunch of chlorine and pray it lasts the week.

You should take over your pool care.

Wow, a 25% margin of error! Thanks.
