Newbie building pool in Dallas - looking for insights

We're thinking of going with Blue Surf as well, but our yard is shaded most of the day -- I'd love to see Blue Surf in the shade, if you have any pics.

Here are a couple of pictures from earlier today...

I thought I’d give ya’ll an update. Got the permits this week. It took 6 weeks. Unfortunately the builder will not be able to have the preconstruction meeting with us until 2nd week of March which means we won’t have a pool in the Spring. We’re looking at June at the earliest assuming we get thru storm season in North Texas without significant rain. 😒

Delays are awful. I was looking at the water in the pool shell, which has been there since we watered the gunite, and I was thinking it's good it's winter and we had that snow. No mosquitos. Can you imagine the breeding ground if this build's in the summer? !!!

I feel for our dogs. They've had the hardest time. Hubby's been having a blast though - He's been talking to the workers, keeping an eye on things, reconfiguring our sprinklers, digging, arranging, hauling, and ordering. He's gotten two flower beds ready for me. Our tiller is coming in handy!

Day 2 - we have the outlines of a pool!

Hey there. Did you end up buying Heater/Chiller?

I went with the same PB and like their work so far. Gunite is done and now waiting for stonework to begin. But I’m still on the fence of a chiller. Initially we thought of waiting for a couple of pool seasons before investing in a chiller or heater. But I have friends recommending to get at least a chiller to make swimming bearable in TX heat. Our pool will be south facing.

As long as you have equipment space, adding a chiller after the initial build is viable. That’s what we did, but only because I didn’t know they existed until I started searching for a way to cool the pool. It got to where we didn’t really enjoy getting in the pool once we got to the middle of summer and water was 95°. My pool just reached 80° for the first time this summer today!

What does a chiller cost (ballpark)?
