1st time poster here. Buying a home with a nice in ground pool and after reading ad nauseum on 1st time pool owner threads, I am going to do a switch to SWG right out of the gate and took advantage to the $10 upgrade sale at Discount Salt Pool Saltwater Swimming Pool Systems & Supplies | Discount Salt Pool going from the RJ45 to the RJ60 for only $10. I am pretty handy with basic plumbing and electrical, I assume I can install this myself DIY pretty easy, right? Wont be moving in for a month, so I am an early bird, getting ready...

Excluding pool chemistry test kits and salt obviously, anything else I need starting out?

Hi and welcome to TFP! You are off to a great start getting a SWG for the pool. I am going to share some links to help you spend your money LOL

Here a fun one to help you learn how to do the tests once you get your test kit:

Make sure to fill out your signature with all of your pool and it's equipment including what test kit you get so we can see all of your info at a glance.

Here is the link to the different test kits we use:

Will do on the signature line once I move in. Thanks for the links, I believe I already hit them all . Plan on getting the TF-Pro test kits soon.

You do not want to have the flow switch as the primary safety on your salt cell.

If you have a timer controlling your pump circuit breaker, you can wire the SWG and the pump on the same Breakers. The timer will shut them both off that way. If the pump has continuous power then you need another way to ensure that the pump is running anytime the cell on.

Good advice from PoolStored. There are a number of ways to skin that cat, and are dependent on your specific equipment setup. The plumbing part is usually very easy. Electrical may be easy to complicated, but can always be done one way or another. Be prepared to post a lot of pictures of your setup, and list specific makes/models of your equipment.

Understood. I will verify the setup with pics as soon as I can. Thanks!
