Hi all!

We recently installed a SWG system for our pool, and we just opened the pool today. I know we need to balance everything first and then add some liquid chlorine before we add the salt and get the SWG going.

At opening these were my levels:
FC- 0
PH- 6.8
TA- 40
CYA- 30

I have sodium carbonate to raise the PH, is that still ok to use with the SWG?

Yes - are u sure it’s sodium carbonate & not sodium bicarbonate?
Sodium Carbonate should increase ph & ta -
Looks like you need about 3#’s

You can re test afterwards & see where it lands u then add a little baking soda if necessary.
Many people w/ swg’s (including myself) keep ta around 50-60 to inhibit ph rise.

Since your fc was zero you might wanna do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test at target 🎯 level for your current cya to rule out organics before raising cya to swg levels.
