New to a baqu conversion

Okay so here are my new concerns :(

I added 150z of stablizer (CYA) yesterday in a knee high, it is almost dissolved.
Last night I didn't get home until late and just checked FC it was 9, CC were still1 went on to bed
Got up at 6:45am checked FC was 7.5 dropped 1.5 ppm over night?????? CC still 1 so I added 162 oz of bleach per the calculater. it is noon now and I just checked FC is 7 and CC 1. Can this be right? did I do something wrong? HELP!

I need to get the CC down, but I feel like my adding bleach isn't topping up my FC to 15....

Getting Nervous

update
add 108 oz of bleach at 2pm just rechecked FC to see if it was holding, it is at 15 yay! and my CC are at .5...another question for you guys?

now that my CC is at .5 I know it must stay there for 2 days, so do I keep my FC up at 15 till my CC stays at .5 or less or can I let the FC fall down to normal range and just check CC?

okay so here is an urgent update

I haven't added any bleach since yesterday 6/22 at 1:45pm and it is 8 pm est and my FC is 5 and my CC is .5, so my question in I think I am almost done or am I done?????

Also I checked the CYA/Chlorine chart I can't really go by that yet can I since I don't know what my CYA is?
Also should I check that in a week which will be on 7/27 to see what it is? and if it is under 40 would you recommend adding more CYA?
Based on the recommended levels of 3-7 I am at a 5 so should I keep it there until Monday 7/27 just by topping up my bleach nightly?
Is it safe to check TA and PH and get real accurate results now?
what about algacide? do I need to add any? and can I use the baquacil brand?

Sorry for more questions, but I ONLY TRUST YA'LL!

Urgent huh?
Your CYA is what ever you targeted. If you targeted 40, that is your level.
Yes.
You want to add enough each night to keep you above 3. So if your pool loses 3 ppm during 24 hours, you would target 6. If you lose 4ppm, you target 7. And so on.
As long as the FC is below 10 you can test PH and TA.
You don't need algaecide. Maintaining the FC levels according to the chart will prevent algae.
You need to bring it back up to 15 tonight. If your CC is .5 in the morning, you are done. :goodjob:

Okay so maybe it wasn't that urgent...I guess I am just anxious and so proud of how wonderful my pool looks....You guys are awesome!!!!!

Okay I will top back up to 15 tonight and see how it goes tomorrow.

Will give another update and hopefully some really good photos now that I have my camera back!! YAY

Shocking is complete when you have met the following criteria

1. Your pool water is sparkling
2. Your CC's are .5ppm or less
3. You can hold your FC overnight without losing more than 1ppm.

It looks like you almost there ......

Okay guys, so after many long posts I think I am finished with my conversion.
I topped up FC last night around 9pm and just checked it this afternoon 1:30est.

FC 8.5
CC 0 (yeah)

Here are some pictures of the completed process!!!!

It was worth the hard work and worries! I have never seen my pool sparkle! So glad I had you guys by my side through the entire process!

I do have one quick question though...since it has been cool here in East TN. what do you recommend for the solar cover, such as how many days can it stay on? and do I need to still check FC while it is on or while lose be minimal since the cover is on?

Looks great.

You can keep the solar cover on whenever the pool is not in use. I have kept it covered for 11 day vacations without issues (i shocked first).

You still need to check chlorine daily, and you still may lose some FC with it on (esp. if it was used with the Baq - there could be baq residual on it...

It's always a good idea to let the pool breath - and the sunlight helps destroy CCs. So hopefully the pool gets used during the day and then you put the cover on at night to retain the heat gain.

Hi - Congratulations on your success! I hope to be where you're at, this season.

Please - can you tell me how much chlorine you used in all? I'm trying to estimate ahead of time generally how much it will take. I have 8000+/- gallons and am converting green goo.

Thank you from Catherine.

Hi Catherine,
We started using cal-hypo "turbo shock" powder that the pool store sold us before we found the website, we used all 12 bags of it and then moved on to bleach, I believe we used 12 182 oz bottles and 4 96 oz bottles.

I feel as though my baqua conversion isn't all the good to go by since we started out with the cal-hypo first. It through off the process. I would suspect that if we had used strictly bleach we would have used about 50-70 182 oz bottles if I had to guess.

you will not regret your decision to switch! it has been a week and our pool is fabulous!
