New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

You should do the math and see. it might be more cost effective to nurse this one along and replace it when it dies. Prices of the VS are bound to go down as they become more common place. just sayin' But you know your situation best

Good point, but you cant loose what you dont have. Just thought it was funny.

Ah, but you can, since the SWG is constantly producing chlorine. I guess the way I phrased it was a little weird, but the pool could consume 5-6ppm of FC on a bright sunny day even though the FC level stayed at 3 because the SWG would keep making chlorine as it was lost.
