New salt pool

Hey all,
Our pool was just completed in November. We just opened it and the pool company took a sample. They claim we need 75# of salt support. 50# of calcium and 15# of alkalinity.
I know they added salt and shock in the fall.
What is Salt support and is it really necessary?
Any other suggestions?
