New Salt Cell but Easy Touch salt level is 0.

We had a new Pentair Salt Cell IC-40 installed two days ago. The Easy Touch Diagnostic is registering 0 ppm. I had the water professionally tested and their reading said the salt level is 3500. Is there something we need to do to reset the panel?

Thank you.

Welcome to TFP.

Is the CELL light on indicating the SWG is generating?

For some reason, unknown to Pentair, minor changes to the system will cause the salt level in the EasyTouch and ScreenLogic to read zero. This is just an error in reporting and the cell should still be working as long as the actual salt level is ok and the cell does not show a "red low salt" light on the cell. I believe that there is a timing issue in the circuitry that reports the salt reading to the EasyTouch. It is obvious that the cell knows what the real salt level is. This has been "Fixed" by the following actions:
  • Just shutting off and rebooting the ET
  • Replacing the flow switch
  • Replacing the ET's surge card (power supply for the cell)
  • Replacing the ET's main board
  • Replacing the salt cell itself.

19,

As Allen points out above.. If the salt light on the Cell is green, then the cell is working just fine, and the problem is that the EasyTouch just can't report the salt level..

Did they just replace the cell or was a new power center installed?

Can you adjust the cell's output using your EasyTouch???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes. The salt level light says good and the salt cell light is a steady green. IMG_4515.jpeg

Is this your first SWCG on this pool? Your installer may have forgotten to tell the ET that the SWCG is there.

Menu > Settings > Intellichlor > Enable: Yes

They only replaced the salt cell. Do we need to replace the EasyTouch panel, too?

Yes, I can adjust the cell’s output from the EasyTouch.

Thank you.

This is a replacement for the original one installed at installation of the pool. I just checked and the Intellichlor was switched to off. I changed it to yes. If this is the problem, how long does it usually take to register a new salt reading on the EasyTouch?
