If you went to 1.5" plumbing on the return, then you might expect the following operating point:
38 GPM
46.8' Head
940 Watts
Not much of a change but there is part of the return plumbing that seems to have higher than average head loss even for 1.25" pipe. It is probably the filter so I assumed that would not change.
However, if you also changed the return eyeball to 1", you would get the following
42.4 GPM
45' Head
965 Watts

As you can see, it uses a little more power but probably not worth worrying about.Also, since it would use more power with bigger pipe, should I partially close the return valve if I need to run it 24/7 to reduce flow/power draw?
