New pool

We have small Intex 15’ X 33” above ground (inflatable). Put chlorine float in and wtaer tirned green, used shock and now (rusty looking) brown. Tested
PH 7.8

Chlorine 2/4

Alkalinity 240

Hardness 400

CYN 70-100

Do not know what to do buy or how to correct, do not want to ruin

Welcome to the forum!
You activated the iron in the water when you added the chlorine. If you have a skimmer, you can put polyfill in it to strain out the iron. If you have a cartridge filter, it may also be straining it out. Clean it very often while the pool water is brown.

So what chemical do I buy to get rust looking wtaer to clear water, has a filter.

It’s not about a quick fix chemical, it’s about filtering the iron out of the water. Here is a thread where someone describes a homemade polyfill filter.

If you’ve got iron in your fill water, use Polyfill to remove it

EDIT: Found out this method only works if your iron is oxidized already, meaning it’s got a dull or bright green tint to the water, or a nasty brown tint. If you know you have iron in your fill water, but it isn’t oxidized yet, bring your pool to shock level and it’ll turn the telltale green...
