Hello, been testing my chemicals for a few weeks now. Just posting to see what you guys think. PoolMath Logs

I have a 12000gal pool & hot tub, mini pebble. Also I’ve been having trouble keeping the PH below 7.8. The water from spa does spillover to the pool when pump is running. No other water features.

Your CYA is 40, we round up.

Your FC is too low for your CYA level. Read...

Why did you add Baking Soda with a pH of 7.8 and TA of 80?

TA down to 50 is ok.

Do you have automation?

Please create your signature with details of your pool and equipment.

Welcome PoolAdmiral, I looked at your other posts. You have been on the site for a while, now. You've read the TFP practices that free chlorine must be in line with the chart, see above post for the chart. Your target range for your CYA 40 is 5 - 7 ppm. You do not want algae and you are below the minimum of 3 ppm free chlorine for your CYA. You can do this... You have a one of the recommended test kits. Go ahead add enough liquid chlorine to get to 5 ppm. Continue to test then adjust when necessary.

I tried bringing down the Ph to about 7.4. My water spillover I know is increasing the PH daily. I added baking soda to bring up the TA to 90ppm. Was trying to stay in between the recommendations. Yes on Pool automation.

I added CL to bring it to 3ppm but I’ll add some more today to get it within range.

The higher your TA is the more rapid your pH will rise.

Let your TA get down around 60.

Low end of ranges is as good as upper end of ranges.

Yes on Pool automation.

Please tell us the details of your equipment.

Get your FC up. Below target is bad. Above target is just fine.

I just updated my signature. Here it is Jandy VS 2.7hp. Aqualink 3.0 automation. Del Ozone 25 ozonator. Fusion chlorinator(not using Tabs or minerals) Jandy 400k gas heater. Small 2nd pump for water features.

See the Wiki page for how to enable SPILLOVER mode on AUX3 with dipswitch3 so that you do not need to run your spa spillover continuously. That will greatly reduce your pH rise...

Thanks. I’ll read up.

I tested a second time today after initial chemical add. PoolMath Logs

I added some CL to bring it up to about 4.2. I’ll test again tomorrow and continue adding.
New tip: use the 10ml water sample for CL and multiple the drops x 0.5 which makes the math easier and saves reagents. The accuracy is still plenty good.

Using LC or SWCG, you'll likely never need to add baking soda.
Using LC only. Not planning on SWG anytime soon.

Wilco. I find myself testing often.

SWCG is awesome. The takeaway is stop adding baking soda. :)
For sure. Thanks for that. On a side note. I see your from The Woodlands TX. Been there once in 2004. Beautiful place. There was a home for sale there backing up to a Lake with a long backyard. $250k. I couldn’t afford it because I was in the military. :laughblue:I should have sold some organs to get it.
