Hello, just found this forum and trying to trouble shoot our Jandy pool and spa heater. Pool was installed last year. We have used both pool and spa heater and both have always worked fine. Went to go heat the pool today and I am getting a check flow error message. Checked to se see if it worked in spa mode, and it does. Just not in pool mode. Any ideas? Filters are cleaned. Tried adjusting the variable speed pump. Thanks I’m advance to any advice.

T,

If it worked before and is not working now, I would assume a Jandy style valve issue.

A dirty filter and low pump speed would be my number one thought, but you say they are ok.

Show us several pics of your equipment pad.. Show us pics in the Pool mode and Pics in the Spa mode. Make sure you tell us which is which.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I hope I am posting these pictures correctly on here. I apologize if I am not.

T,

We need to see several bigger and better pics of the equipment, so we can see both automated valves and the plumbing around them.

Thanks,

Jim R.

T,

Thanks for the pics...

Does your Spa spillover into your pool? Does this Spillover run all the time you are in the pool mode, or only when you turn it on? Is the spillover flowing well?

The only thing that looks out of place to me is that your skimmer is shut off and the cleaner is the only suction the pump is getting. If the cleaner or cleaner line is plugged, then when in the pool mode, you'd get poor flow, but when you go the spa mode, you'd have use the Spa drain suction and you'd get more flow.

Thanks,

Jim R.

It is set to run over for an hour when it’s cleaning. Otherwise we have to turn it on.

Yeah it only comes on when we turn it on. Just tried it and it is not working.

T,

As a test, shut off the cleaner and fully open the skimmer and see what happens?

Another test you can do... Put the system into the Pool mode. Go out and look at the two automated valves that you have. The Intake valve in front of your pump and the Return valve that is back against the house wall. Note the position of each valve. Then go into the Spa mode and go look at the valves again. Both valves should have moved. The Intake valve should move about 180 degrees and your Return valve should move about 90 degrees.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Well the valves all moved correctly. I didn’t notice a difference when opening up the skimmer. The skimmer basket is not filling up as normal either.

T,

With the skimmer closed and the cleaner on, does the cleaner work?

When you are in the pool mode, do you feel a good flow of water out of your pool returns???

What speed do you run the pump in the pool mode?

What speed do you run the pump in the Spa mode?

Thanks,

Jim R.

The cleaner will work but it’s seems low flow into the pump basket.

There seems to be a sufficient amount of flow out of the returns.

So in pool mode it is set at 1750
In pool heat it is set at 2750
In spa heat it is 2750

Truly do appreciate your help with this. So frustrating.

T,

Did 1750 turn the heater on before now?

What happens to your flow in the pool mode if you run at 2750?

Are you sure the filter is clean? I ask, because when the filter gets dirty, the first thing people notice is poor flow. Usually this is noticed when the spa does not spill over into the pool.

Thanks,

Jim R.

The filters were cleaned last week but that was just done with a hose nozzle. We went ahead and ordered new cartridges just in case that could be the problem. I read someplace that an algae could form on the inner part of the cartridge. The rpm’s have never been changed and the pool heater worked fine.

I just had this problem, so frustrating. It happened just after the cartridges were cleaned, so I was also about to order a new set. My PSI was at 0 in pool heat mode, so I was told to first check the pump basket, lo and behold I found these two in the basket! Removed them, still Check Flow message. I decided to heat up the spa, which fired up fine. After using the spa, I tried the pool heat mode again, saw the PSi jumped to 10 and the pool heat fired right up! Has worked fine since.F3348D78-8A3D-45C3-B93A-D791983381BD.jpeg
