New pool owner (in escrow). Inspector and pool company recommended we replaster. How bad does this look?

This is a 40 x 20 pool, quoted 14k replaster and 5k retailing. I'm located in Los Angeles.


How much time do I have to replaster this?

What would happen if we don't replaster for a few years?

Would it be reasonable to ask the seller to pay for this?

Cracks lead to water leaks and water leaks lead to soild erosion, which leads to structures moving, which leads to more cracking, which leads to more water leaking faster and more $$$ to fix.
 
Sooner sounds better to me, for reasons that @Bperry mentioned, and inflation too. I had one done in a former pool I owned 9 years ago and it was less than $5K for resurfacing with a cement/aggregate in the 15x30' pool.. It took them about 5 days start to finish.

You better get $50k off the price of the home if you do decide to go ahead with the deal.
