Is it okay to use a Hayward filter with a Pentair pump?

Any mfg of filter can be used with any mfg of pump. The only thing to be concerned about is a high HP pump overwhelming a small filter.

2-speed Pentair Whisperflo High Performance Pump. So I got the filter and pump for $250. The only issue is he isn’t certain the pump works but doesn’t have any reason to believe it doesn’t. Apparently he never used it, it was given to him for free in a separate transaction some time ago and he ended up never using it.

Great deal on getting a 2 speed pump. Currently you have a single speed pump so a 2 speed is an upgrade. If you put a union on each side of it, it would be easy to remove if not working.

Maybe @JamesW has some ideas to test a pump before installation.

You can connect it to power and see if the high speed and low speed work.

You can show the wiring compartment so that we can see if it looks ok.
