New Pool Construction Project in Houston: 2nd Time is a Charm

More progress. And another addition to the "scratched off" bucket list in my signature.

They came by in the rain today to clean up the yard. Nary a stray piece of junk remains. They also graded the yard...not that there was much yard damage. There are still tire tracks from the dump truck, but I also notice a large pile of sandy dirt in the street in front of my house. I am guessing someone will show up today to start filling in the tracks.

I can't help but think that my PB must be thinking about the P-word. Shhhh....don't say it. I don't want to jinx it. :whoot:

Pics of the cleanup. We can almost envision what it will look like when finished.

All in all, I'm impressed with how little mess my PB has made of my yard. Still no word on plaster date, but I'm afraid the weather may not cooperate this week. Fingers crossed....

They did a nice job on the clean up. Now get some rye grass seed to put on the dirt to help keep it in place and you are set until the real grass starts growing.

I am with Corleone on the angle grinder idea to "save" the stepping stone. Just kind of brush it across the raised part. Do many soft passes until it is gone.

I think I would be tempted to try a stiff wire brush wheel on a drill on that pad but truthfully, I would leave it alone so atleast the color matches. Your pool looks amazing.

Edited: Sorry I just noticed Corleon posted the same. I agree with his post.

It looks like the "done in 3 weeks" promise may still be intact! I just had the final walk-through with my PB. If the heavy rains stay away, they're scheduled to clean & wash the shell on Wednesday and install the Wet Edge Pebble Matrix on Friday.

There are still a few small items to take care of (gas ring & lava rock in fire pit, mastic at border with covered patio, SWG install, drain covers, etc.), but these should be taken care of by Thursday.

If all goes well, we'll be :swim: by :santa::rendeer: day.

Bob or Karen (whoever wrote this), I'll take you up on your offer. Is this one fixable? It's an extra stepping stone that I could make use of if it could be salvaged.

It was me (Karen) being a little sarcastic because we had so many foot prints - but the concrete guy ended up coming back, sanding out the print and refinishing the deck but with a different finish than the rock salt finish (so it doesn't match exactly but its really close). On the edges, it wasn't that big of a deal, in the kitchen area, they refinished the entire area - so at least it looked the same for that area.

For yours, I actually think it looks pretty cool (and very much like a leaf/fossil). I agree with the others, you could rough it out but then you will have a slightly different finish, so I think it's a great piece to leave exactly like it is. How much does each one weigh again? Can it be moved around (just thinking it would be a great talking piece)

Your yard does look very neat. I am double envious - Friday plaster and a neat yard
